 -- Meta Platforms, Inc (Nasdaq: META) announced it has signed four contracts with Chicago-based energy owner, operator and developer, Invenergy, for 760 megawatts of clean energy. These new Environmental Attribute Purchase agreements (EAPAs) bring Meta's total clean energy procurement from Invenergy to over 1 gigawatt.

Meta’s EAPAs are contracted through four Invenergy-developed facilities strategically located across the U.S. to meet soaring energy demand with domestically produced electricity. These solar energy centers include:

The electricity from these projects will be delivered to the local grid, increasing regional reliability by delivering power to nearby homes and businesses, while Meta will receive clean energy credits for bringing new generation capacity online.

Cimarron Link will improve grid reliability and affordability in Oklahoma while driving economic development and community benefits across the state

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) announced Thursday that Invenergy’s Cimarron Link transmission project has been selected to enter award negotiations for a $306 million capacity contract as part of 

Cimarron Link is a High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) transmission project that will deliver new renewable energy supply from the Oklahoma Panhandle to rapidly growing load centers in eastern Oklahoma. This project will transmit 1,900 megawatts (MW) of energy capacity, equivalent to the size of two new nuclear power plants. The project will support energy price competitiveness and stability for Oklahoma consumers, bolster reliability, and strengthen long-term energy security in the region. 

“The selection of Cimarron Link to enter award negotiations through the Transmission Facilitation Program is an important step to deliver Oklahoma power, benefitting Oklahoma families,” said Shashank Sane, Executive Vice President and Head of Transmission at Invenergy. “The strong support for this project at the local, state, and national level reflects the critical need this grid investment serves for Oklahoma, as it will enable the construction of energy infrastructure that the Panhandle has long sought.” 

“Oklahoma’s welcoming business climate has created an increase in new and existing manufacturers looking to locate or relocate, but without projects like Cimarron Link, Oklahoma will not be able to bring this business diversity and economic vitality to the state,” said Ken McQueen, Oklahoma Secretary of Energy & Environment.  

Cimarron Link will generate more than 3,600 construction jobs and more than 20 permanent jobs once the project is operational. Additionally, as part of its capacity contract application, Cimarron Link presented a Community Benefits Plan to invest an additional $10 million in Oklahoma communities. This investment will enable local, Tribal, and disadvantaged communities to access jobs, workforce development opportunities, career pathways in renewable energy, and contracting opportunities for minority and disadvantaged business enterprises while also enhancing the state’s wildfire mitigation capabilities. 

“Rarely does an infrastructure project provide so many tangible benefits to so many counties and citizens across one state,” said Oklahoma Senator Casey Murdock. “In addition to the direct benefits Cimarron Link will bring to landowners, schools, and county services, our state will benefit exponentially from the $10 million investment in our local communities.” 

Over the last two years, Cimarron Link has engaged landowners and other community members to seek input on project routing and other considerations. By working with landowners to negotiate easement agreements, Cimarron Link has now acquired over half of the rights-of-way for the project. Cimarron Link has also invested in communities by sponsoring local events and organizations, and by developing a Cimarron Link high school scholarship and community grant program. 

High Plains Technology Center stated in its letter of support, “Our number one focus is returning people to our communities while providing technical trades training that can provide meaningful income and opportunity for the people of our area. High Plains will continue to expand (our) programs to support the growth in workforce needs created by Invenergy’s investment and resulting from the Cimarron Link project.” 

The Oklahoma Manufacturing Alliance stated in its letter of support, “In addition to addressing critical infrastructure needs, the Cimarron Link project will improve the lives of local communities by providing good paying jobs and workforce development opportunities.” 

Funded through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, the Transmission Facilitation Program (TFP) is a $2.5 billion revolving fund that will provide transmission developers with financial assistance to help develop transmission infrastructure. The Transmission Facilitation Program is not associated with the National Interest Electric Transmission Corridor (NIETC) Designation Process or the preliminary designation of the Delta-Plains Corridor. 

TFP award contracts are expected to be finalized in January 2025.

El Sol Energy Storage Center increases Invenergy’s Arizona storage portfolio to nearly 200 MW

August 29, 2024 – Invenergy, the leading privately-held developer, owner, and operator of sustainable energy solutions, announced completion of the El Sol Energy Storage Center (50 MW), marking its 10th battery energy storage project in Arizona to reach commercial operations since the start of 2023. Notably, Invenergy’s project portfolio accounts for nearly half of all storage facilities to come online in the Grand Canyon State during that same timeframe.

PATASKALA, OHIO – Illuminate USA, an American leader in advanced solar panel manufacturing, this week announced the hiring of its one thousandth Ohioan associate (or ‘Illuminator’) and the production of its one millionth solar panel at its state-of-the-art facility in Pataskala, Ohio. These dual milestones were achieved less than six months since the start of production—a testament to the 

speed with which Illuminate USA is onshoring American solar manufacturing.

HURLOCK, MD – [October 17, 2024] – Invenergy, the leading privately held developer, owner, and operator of sustainable energy solutions, announced commercial operations at the Richfield Solar Energy Center, a 50-megawatt (MW) utility-scale solar energy facility in Dorchester County, Maryland. Richfield Solar marks another milestone in Maryland’s pursuit of 50% renewable energy by 2030, reinforcing the state’s leadership in the national transition to clean energy. 

The clean energy generated from Richfield Solar will be purchased by Verizon through a virtual power purchase agreement (VPPA). Invenergy, along with Verizon and M&T Bank, the project finance partner, celebrated commercial operations at Richfield Solar during a ribbon cutting ceremony.

The Richfield Solar facility complements Invenergy’s Todd Solar Energy Center also located in Hurlock, which has been operational since 2021, generating 20 MW of clean energy. Invenergy Announces Commercial Operations at Richfield Solar Energy Center in Maryland

The 63-megawatt Rusutsu Wind agreement is the largest in the Hokkaido Prefecture and Honda Group’s second power purchase agreement with Invenergy

 - Invenergy, the leading privately held developer, owner, and operator of sustainable energy solutions, today announced a landmark virtual power purchase agreement (VPPA) between Honda Motor Co., Ltd. (Honda) and Rusutsu Wind for 63-megawatts (MW) of clean energy. The power generated from the 

 in the Hokkaido prefecture will offset 64,000 tons of carbon emissions annually. This agreement represents the largest corporate VPPA in the region.  

The Rusutsu VPPA follows Invenergy’s 200-MW offtake agreement with a group company of Honda in North America at a phase of the Samson Solar Energy Center in the United States – which will be one of the largest solar energy centers in the western hemisphere when completed.

Invenergy Signs Virtual Power Purchase Agreement with Honda in Japan

Entergy’s fourth solar facility and Invenergy’s first developed project in Arkansas generates enough electricity to power 61,000 Arkansas Homes

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- Adding to its growing fleet of utility-scale solar generating facilities, Entergy Arkansas has announced the start of commercial operations at Walnut Bend Solar Energy Center. The 100-megawatt solar energy center is located in Lee County to the east of Brinkley, Arkansas. Entergy Arkansas acquired Walnut Bend from Invenergy, a leading privately held developer, owner, and operator of sustainable energy solutions. Invenergy led the development, engineering, and construction of the facility.

“Walnut Bend will be a valuable addition to our generation fleet, which, in turn, complements our diverse mix of generation sources that have been powering life in Arkansas for more than 100 years,” said Entergy Arkansas President and CEO Laura Landreaux. “Our investments in these generation resources are a key part of keeping the rates our customers pay below the regional and national averages and enables us to provide reliable, affordable, and sustainable service to our customers throughout the state.”

The Walnut Bend facility will generate an estimated $700,000 in annual property taxes for Lee County. It utilizes innovative technologies, including bifacial solar panels and racking equipment that tracks the sun. Bifacial panels capture sunlight on both sides of the panel, taking advantage of light reflecting off the ground, while the racking systems adjusts their tilt so that they follow the sun throughout the day, maximizing their energy production.

“I am pleased to welcome Walnut Bend Solar to my district,” said Arkansas Senator Ron Caldwell, District 10. “This facility represents a significant investment in Lee County that will provide economic benefits locally and throughout Arkansas.”

Walnut Bend is the fourth solar resource Entergy Arkansas has placed into service - all generating renewable, emission-free solar power for all Entergy Arkansas’ customers. The others are the 81-megawatt Stuttgart Solar, the 100-megawatt Chico Solar at Lake Village and the 100-megawatt Searcy Solar. The four facilities combined will generate 381 megawatts of power for Entergy Arkansas customers. Total investment is more than $300 million, with net customer benefits of more than $170 million over the life of the facilities.

Later this year, Entergy Arkansas will bring 430 additional MW of solar power facilities online:

Entergy Arkansas and Invenergy Announce Start of Commercial Operations at Walnut Bend Solar

The 200-megawatt facility in Texas will be capable of powering more than 40,000 homes

Invenergy, the leading privately-held  developer, owner and operator of sustainable energy solutions, and Monarch Private Capital (Monarch), a nationally recognized impact investment firm that develops, finances and manages a diversified portfolio of tax credit projects, are pleased to announce the successful closing of nearly $170 million in tax equity financing for the Samson Solar Energy Center II project, located in Lamar County, Texas. The project, developed by Invenergy, will bring significant economic benefits to the region, including construction jobs, substantial landowner payments, and more than $27 million in local taxes and payments to the county and local school district throughout the life of the project. 

The Samson Solar Energy Center II is a 200-megawatt (MW) solar power facility slated to begin commercial operations later this year. Once completed, Samson II will generate enough clean electricity to power over 40,000 homes. The project is part of Invenergy’s Samson Solar Energy Center, a five-phase, 1,310-MW development that is the largest solar energy center in Texas. Collectively, the Samson Solar Energy Center will produce enough energy to power 300,000 homes and help advance Texas's leadership in clean energy.

Nyberg to build on the company’s tribal engagement efforts across its growing U.S. portfolio

CHICAGO, IL – [August 30, 2024] – Invenergy, the leading developer, owner, and operator of sustainable energy solutions, welcomes Meg Nyberg as the company’s first Tribal Relations Lead. Based in Denver, Nyberg will lead Invenergy’s corporate tribal engagement and representation efforts, drawing on her commitment to tribal nations and Indigenous communities and extensive experience in the energy sector. Nyberg will support Invenergy’s full U.S. renewables portfolio including onshore wind and solar generation, battery energy storage, long-range transmission, and offshore wind.

Nyberg comes to Invenergy with nearly 10 years of supporting engagement, partnerships, and advocacy with Indigenous communities and over 15 years of expertise in engineering, project development, and contract negotiation. Most recently, Nyberg served as the Director of Strategy at SEI, a Native-owned engineering & survey consulting firm, where she drove strategic development and relationships, specifically building partnerships with Indigenous communities, Native-led NGOs, and Native-owned consultants to support energy sovereignty. Nyberg has worked closely with her teams to respect Traditional Ecological Knowledge and integrate sustainable practices into every project phase. Before joining SEI, Nyberg garnered more than a decade of experience in business development for various energy consulting firms specializing in engineering, land survey and land acquisition efforts.

Nyberg attended Harvard University and Minnesota State University, where she studied Sustainability and Marketing.

One-of-a-kind Illinois Facility to Advance Clean Energy Economy 

– Invenergy, the leading privately held developer, owner, and operator of sustainable energy solutions, today announced it has broken ground on its Center of Excellence (CoE), a $30 million clean energy training and manufacturing facility located at 790 Remington Boulevard in Bolingbrook, Illinois, about 30 miles outside Chicago. The new facility will span 135,000 sq. ft. and is anticipated to open in the fourth quarter of 2024 following the buildout of the existing site which will employ over 250 local construction workers. 

“The Center of Excellence is Invenergy’s latest investment in the workforce of the future and reinforces our leadership in meeting the growing demand for clean energy,” said Steve Dowdy, Executive Vice President and Operating Business Leader at Invenergy. “As we collectively meet today’s rapidly expanding energy needs, this state-of-the-art training and equipment refurbishment facility continues our commitment to the region, elevating Chicagoland, Illinois, and the US as the tip of the spear for energy infrastructure investment and innovation." 

The CoE will be comprised of four main components:
