Invenergy Hosts Community Open House on Bull Run Wind Project
Local residents and clean energy company representatives discuss plans and economic benefits of 300 MW wind project
CHICAGO (Oct. 19, 2015) – On Thursday evening, Invenergy held an open house for the Clinton County, New York community on the company’s proposed Bull Run Wind Energy Center (Bull Run). Numerous residents and stakeholders joined Invenergy representatives at Northern Adirondack Central High School in nearby Ellenburg for an open dialogue about the project that will be located on roughly 24,000 acres of private land in Clinton County.
The wind project would consist of 50-100 wind turbines, with a total capacity of up to 300 MW. At full capacity, this project would provide power enough for nearly 115,000 New York homes, more than exist in Rochester. In addition to creating local jobs during construction and operation, Bull Run will generate several million dollars in annual revenue for the community, benefitting the area’s schools, services and first responders. Each year Bull Run is expected to offset up to 413,000 tons of CO2 emissions, 1,500 tons of SO2, and 560 tons of NOX.
Excellent wind resources and welcoming landowners make this a great location for the project. Today, Invenergy is the owner and operator of three other wind farms in the state, for a total operating portfolio of 222 MW.
