The Guymon Pioneer Days Celebration is the largest event in the panhandle of Oklahoma and has drawn large crowds to Guymon every year for a weeklong celebration since 1933. The celebration has its roots in the 1930s, when Guymon was hit hard by the Dust Bowl. Guymon citizens created this event to celebrate their pioneering spirit, community, strength and hopeful future amid adversity. This year was Invenergy’s second year as a proud Chute Gate sponsor of the event. Our Wind Catcher development team attended the rodeo, the highlight of the week's events.

The Pioneer Days Rodeo is one of many stops for professionals competing in the Wrangler ProRodeo Tour but is their last chance to qualify for the Winter Tour Finale. Hunter Cure, husband of Invenergy’s Bristi Cure, Senior Manager of Renewable Development in ERCOT & SPP, came out on top, winning the steer wrestling competition at this year’s Pioneer Days! Congratulations, Hunter!
