Invenergy Announces Start of Commercial Operation of Marsh Hill Wind Energy Center in New York

CHICAGO, Illinois (December 1, 2014) – Today, Invenergy Wind LLC (“Invenergy”)announced the completion of construction and the start of commercial operations of its16.2 MW Marsh Hill Wind Energy Center (“Marsh Hill”) in Steuben County, New York.
Marsh Hill consists of 10 GE 1.6-103 wind turbines, and is located approximately 85miles south of the City of Rochester, in the Town of Jasper.
“We’re delighted to host Invenergy’s Marsh Hill wind farm,” said Lucille Kernan, JasperTown Supervisor. “The project is a large investment in Jasper, and the long-termpayments it will be making to the Town will enable us to keep taxes low. That’s a hugehelp to our citizens, including retirees and local farmers. Invenergy has been a pleasureto work with, and we’re glad to welcome them to our community.”
“We appreciate the strong support for Marsh Hill in the Town of Jasper, and we’re proudto provide real economic benefit to our host community for years to come,” said JimShield, Chief Development Officer at Invenergy. “We’re also pleased to expand ouroperating portfolio in New York. Through its leadership in pursuing a new energy future, the state is increasingly meeting its power needs through clean, affordable windenergy.”
Through a competitive process, the New York State Energy Research and DevelopmentAuthority (“NYSERDA”) awarded a contract to Marsh Hill to produce and deliverrenewable electricity to New York. The funding was made available through the state'sRenewable Portfolio Standard (“RPS”), which was created to increase the amount ofrenewable electricity used by consumers. NYSERDA has committed to purchase 95%of the RPS attributes (or renewable energy credits) generated with each megawatt-hourproduced from the wind farm for ten years. Electricity produced by Marsh Hill is soldinto the wholesale markets managed by the New York Independent System Operator(“NYISO”).
Tetra Tech Construction of Gloversville, New York served as the project’s generalcontractor. Rochester-based O’Connell Electric built the facility’s substation.
Invenergy’s two other New York wind power generation facilities are located inWyoming County. The 112.5 MW Sheldon Wind Farm began operation in 2009, andthe 94 MW Orangeville Wind Farm became operational earlier this year.
