Invenergy Announces Start of Commercial Operation of Nelson Energy Center in Illinois

CHICAGO, IL (May 18, 2015) – Today, Invenergy Clean Power LLC (“Invenergy”)announced the start of commercial operation of its 600 MW Nelson Energy Center(“Nelson”), a natural gas-fired power generation plant in Lee County, Illinois.
Located in the city of Rock Falls, approximately 120 miles west of Chicago, Nelson is acombined-cycle project that uses GE 7FA gas turbines and GE steam turbines. A portionof the project’s output is sold long-term to WPPI Energy, a regional power companyserving 51 locally-owned, not-for-profit electric utilities. The remaining power is sold intothe PJM wholesale market.
During construction, Nelson employed approximately 350 workers, and currently, a full-time staff of two dozen employees operates and maintains the facility.
