Invenergy Announces Start of Commercial Operations at Orangeville Wind Farm in New York

CHICAGO, Illinois (March 28, 2014) – Today, Invenergy Wind LLC (“Invenergy”)announced the completion of construction and the start of commercial operations of its94 MW Orangeville Wind Farm (“Orangeville Wind”) in Wyoming County, New York.
“Orangeville Wind is Invenergy’s second wind project in Wyoming County, and we’reproud to bring additional economic benefit to the area,” said Jim Shield, ChiefDevelopment Officer at Invenergy. “We’re also pleased to have built a new source ofclean, renewable energy in New York, one of the nation’s leading states in installedwind generation capacity.”
Through a competitive process, the New York State Energy Research and DevelopmentAuthority (“NYSERDA”) awarded a contract to Orangeville Wind to produce and deliverrenewable electricity to New York. The funding was made available through the state'sRenewable Portfolio Standard (“RPS”), which was created to increase the amount ofrenewable electricity used by consumers. NYSERDA has committed to purchase theRPS attributes (or renewable energy credits) generated with each megawatt-hourproduced from the wind farm for ten years. Electricity produced by Orangeville Wind issold into the wholesale markets managed by the New York Independent SystemOperator (“NYISO”).
Contractors on the project were Tetra Tech Construction and O’Connell ElectricCompany, both based in New York State, as well as Pennsylvania-based Henkels &McCoy.
Orangeville Wind is located nearby Invenergy’s 112.5 MW Sheldon Wind Farm, whichbegan commercial operations in 2009.
